DROPS Nepal

DROPS Nepal is a thick and soft yarn made from 65% wool and 35% alpaca. The yarn combines the silky-soft surface of alpaca with the shape retention of wool and has a rustic texture with clearly defined stitches. It is spun from three strands and made from untreated fibres that have only been washed before dyeing. DROPS Nepal is produced in Peru using wool and alpaca from South America and belongs to yarn group C (aran/worsted, 10 ply).

Uses
DROPS Nepal is suitable for knitted jumpers, cardigans, waistcoats, hats, scarves and other warm garments. The yarn can also be used for felted projects, where the finished work develops an even and soft surface. Its three-strand construction creates clear stitch definition, making it suitable for both simple knitting patterns and projects featuring textured stitches.

Product benefits

  • Natural and untreated fibres: The yarn consists of 65% wool and 35% alpaca. The fibres have only been washed before dyeing and have not undergone any additional chemical treatment. The yarn is not superwash-treated.
  • Softness and versatile use: The soft surface of alpaca is combined with the shape retention of wool. The yarn is spun from three strands, giving it a rustic texture and clearly defined stitches. It can also be felted and is available in heathered mix colours.
  • OEKO-TEX® certified: DROPS Nepal is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, product class II, under certificate number 23.HPE.36896 from the Hohenstein Institute. The certification means that the yarn has been tested for harmful substances and meets the requirements for textiles intended for direct skin contact.

Tips for use

Make a tension swatch using the recommended 5.00 mm needles to check the tension of 17 stitches and 22 rows per 10 x 10 cm. Choose stocking stitch, garter stitch or textured stitch patterns if you want to highlight the yarn's clear stitch definition and rustic appearance. If you plan to felt your project, make a test swatch first, as the fabric will shrink during felting. Hand wash finished projects at a maximum of 30°C and leave them to dry flat.

Why choose this yarn?
DROPS Nepal is a good choice if you want a thick everyday yarn with natural fibres, a soft surface and good shape retention. The combination of wool and alpaca, the three-strand construction and its suitability for felting make the yarn useful for both garments and accessories. The yarn is produced in Peru from South American fibres and is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, providing documentation that it has been tested for harmful substances.
